July 17, 2025 – County Administration Center & Waterfront Park
Some stories feel full circle. I photographed Caro’s graduation back in 2020, then milestones for both Caro and Carlos—more graduations, family sessions, their proposal, their engagement and on July 17 I documented their San Diego Courthouse wedding. Clean architecture, ocean light, and a day that felt beautifully them.
A relationship years in the making
Working with the same couple through multiple chapters is a privilege. By the time we met at the County Administration Center, we already had an easy rhythm: simple direction, natural movement, real emotion. I couldn’t travel out of the country for their big celebration, but being here for this civil ceremony meant the world.
The ceremony at the County Administration Center
San Diego’s courthouse (inside the County Administration Center) has a timeless, art-deco feel—long corridors, soft top lights, and neutral tones that photograph beautifully in black and white. The ceremony itself was intimate and quick: rings, signatures, hugs. We kept the approach minimal so their reactions could lead.
Portraits at Waterfront Park
After the license and a round of family embraces, we stepped outside to Waterfront Park for portraits. Palm lines, lawn, and coastal breeze—the perfect contrast to the courthouse interiors. We mixed a few classic frames with playful moments (those sunglasses!) so the gallery feels both elegant and a little rock-and-roll.
What they wore
Caro in a sleek black dress with gold accents; Carlos in a modern black look—clean lines that matched the setting. We styled details around a gold pen and roses for simple, fashion-inspired flatlays.
Tips for planning your San Diego Courthouse wedding
Book your appointment early and bring everything the county requires (ID, appointment confirmation, payment).
Plan a short portrait walk at Waterfront Park—10–20 minutes is enough for a mini editorial set.
Keep the group small if you want a quiet, intimate vibe.
Choose one detail to style (flowers, stationery, rings) for a polished story.
